1st Doddington Scout Group Beavers

We’ve had a busy and exciting couple of evenings welcoming 40 energetic Beavers from the 1st Doddington Scout Group to the practice on the 11th and 12th of February!
Both sessions kicked off with our usual engaging presentation led by our lovely receptionist, Anne, who chatted with the group about the essentials of pet ownership, responsibility, and general pet needs.
Then came the highlight—the behind-the-scenes tour!
• On Wednesday, our colleague Sally, took the reins in the clinical area.
• On Thursday, our colleague Kristi, returned to guide the second group.
Using our mock-up cat, the Beavers got a hands-on look at exactly what happens in our prep theatre, kennels, X-ray room, and bloods lab. They learned all about:
• Anaesthesia, taking bloods, and placing catheters
• Maintaining sterility in the operating room (with the Beavers interactively opening sterile drapes and instrument pouches!)
• How dental and full-body X-rays work
It was fantastic to see so many young people eager to learn about veterinary care. Thank you, 1st Doddington Scout Group , for visiting us—we hope you enjoyed seeing what goes on behind the scenes as much as we enjoyed showing you!
